Best places for visitors? - 29/09/06 09:50 Please help

I'm hoping some generous souls will share information with me as I plan for a trip here in the Spring of 2007. I need help finding a nice (nice, but not TOO nice! I'm on a budget!) place to stay for about 3 weeks. I'd prefer to stay someplace friendly and neighborly, not in an anonymous tourist hotel.

Thanks!

Re:Best places for visitors? - 29/09/06 10:56 There are quite few Cheap Bed and Breakfast you could stay in. They are friendly and comfortable too. I Since you plan on staying for 3 weeks i would try out different B&B.

Re:Best places for visitors? - 30/09/06 10:56 Thanks for the link - this looks like a lovely place to stay. I read a bit about the area - it's kind of sad that the history of weaving didn't carry through to present day. I'm learning to spin and weave, so visiting some places with a long history of fiber work is pretty interesting to me.

And, being a die-hard Rosamund Pilcher fan, anyplace in the Cotswolds is worth visiting!! I can't wait to see what it really looks like, after years of reading books.

If you have other ideas on the highlights of Witney, I'd be very happy to hear about them.

Re:Best places for visitors? - 01/10/06 04:36 Oxford has lot's of tourist stuff and old buildings that might interest you.

Witney does offer little bit of tourism but not a lot.

Coggs Manor Farm and Blenheim Palace are worth visiting.

If you have kids you could take them to Cotswold Wildlife Park

Witney offers a wide of selection of Restaurants and Caters for every taste from Pizza to Indian and as Technoman mentioned you have lot's of choices of pubs too

Re:Best places for visitors? - 02/10/06 05:18 Thanks for the ideas, Karen. I'm not much into touristy things anyway, I like to just "be" someplace and see how other people in the world live. I do like history, and places with a little history can be fun to poke around in. And Witney sounds like it might be a good base for exploring other places nearby. --melissa Check my signature link!
