Re:Call for children's food ad curbs - 04/11/06 17:38 And depends what kind of stores are near schools as well, what products they offer.

There is big money for companies that have their products placed in schools. They make deals with the schools to keep out competitors.

Parents can try to make food choices for their kids at home, but as long as kids have vending machines in schools and money to pay, they will eat what they like (and they like whatever is advertised heavily on TV, right?)

Re:Call for children's food ad curbs - 04/11/06 19:11 It is an utter disgrace what it happening to the children in this country, but the problem is not just with the schools but also with parents. It seems that some do not want to accept responsibility for ensuring their children are properly fed, but instead seem to blame the schools alone.

If it wasn't for Jamie Oliver things would have never changed in school and the Govt had to act cause of massive media attention.
