Re:Are you worried about security online? - 24/04/08 11:59
Any transaction using a credit card can be insecure. If buying anything online always shop with a reputable company and check that the site has the padlock symbol and the url starts with https. The other obvious precautions are make sure your firewall; antivirus software and spyware programmes are up to date before making a purchase. That is as much as you can do - but you cannot influence what happens to your credit card details at the retailers end. Dishonest employees can sell your details on.
1. If you have to enter details in a site, never enter your real details unless you absolutely have to and trust the site fully. 2. Keep your PC up to date with regards to software and operating system. 3. Use browsers that aren't Internet Explorer (Firefox, Opera, SeaMonkey) and also check security settings and addon sites to see how you can further increase your security. If you insist on continuing to use IE, use 7 and get an addon like IE7Pro
