Good grief this is an interesting theory. I think it would explain some of the less plausible bits in the bible. Maybe Moses didn't literally part the Red Sea, maybe it was a mass hallucination? I think that God communicating the Ten Commandments to a tripped out Moses might have more serious implications for the faith though!
I suppose it is possible, but even if Moses was high on drugs, does it lessen the impact of his teachings? In many religions drugs are used to become closer to God. Rastafarians for example, use marijuanna to communicate with their God (or is he ours too I'm not too sure?).
I think the public response to this "accusation" will be interesting. Can you IMAGINE if someone had said the same thing about Mohammed?! We would have another religious war on our hands.
Hopefully the Christians are a more peaceful bunch and will take these claims with a pinch of salt
