Should the English Premier League Expand - 23/02/08 12:06 All around the world there is debate that whether or not the English Premier League (One of the world's most widely view soccer league) expand to play an extra 10 matches outside the country.

This certainly being done to exercise the EPL's financial muscle power but it also gives fans based in countries like Japan, Thailand and other parts of the world a chance to have a glimpse of their much revered stars live in action up close.

Wouldn't we like to have our soccer heroes make their presence felt globally?

Why is it a debate? 10 matches doesn't really sound like it will interfere too much with their schedules...

I say give some other countries a chance to gawk at their soccer heroes (our boys)!

But no need to worry Blatter said it won`t happen , no club is going to to play league games outside their own country according to fifa , anyway i agree it was one of the most stupid proposals I`ve ever heard .

Re:Should the English Premier League Expand - 24/02/08 19:21 Nothing surprises me these days in football and especially where money is concerned but this is the most cockeyed idea i have heard in a long long time. It would make more sense if one of the current league games out of the 38 were to be played else where rather then introduce an extra game which would raise a hundred questions about who would play who etc ?

I think it would be best to leave well alone and sack the idiot who thought of this.

Lets say Sunderland and Birmingham are fighting against the drop and start the 39th game level on points. If sunderland play Derby in Madrid and Birmingam play Chelsea in Sydney (remember the title would be at stake as well) how is that fair ?
