Winehouse bets - 13/07/07 14:28 Bookies hedge their bets on Winehouse

Bookmakers have started taking bets on whether Amy Winehouse turns up to gigs.
The next event punters can have flutter on is the Eden Project gig the singer is scheduled to appear at.

Bookmakers William Hill are offering 2/1 odds on Amy Winehouse not turning up to her next gig, Eden Sessions at The Eden Project in Cornwall.

The odds offer comes after Winehouse cancelled her scheduled appearances at last weekend's T In The Park and Oxegen festivals.

The singer was photographed drinking in her local pub despite citing "exhaustion" as the reason for her cancellations.

"Amy has cancelled too many gigs for us not to give out odds," a spokesperson for William Hill said. "The concert is next week so she'll have to sort herself out for that and I can't see it happening."

Re:Winehouse bets - 14/07/07 18:20 Does anyone remember when Amy Winehouse used to be quite attractive? It was before she started wearing that hideous beehive that she probably hides her liquor in. What a waste of talent and beauty.

Re:Winehouse bets - 16/07/07 14:10 I should have bet the odds! Amy was a no-show again on Saturday at a show.

Re:Winehouse bets - 19/07/07 14:46 and when she does show up:

Winehouse sparks concern
Jazz songstress Amy Winehouse is hardly out of the headlines these days, with boozy nights out and cancelled gigs.

But Winehouse has sparked concern with her latest appearance at a concert in Cornwall, her first after pulling out of a series of shows.

The soul singer was meant to play a set at T in The Park and the Oxygen festival but blamed both cancellations on exhaustion.

Bookies have even been hedging bets on whether she would turn up for future gigs.

But many fans who were treated to her presence at the Eden Project concert, which also featured Lily Allen and the Pet Shop Boys, where left dazed and confused by Amy's behaviour.

It is claimed the star walked off mid set, after just a couple of songs and looked even more troubled when she returned.

According to witnesses, Amy forgot some of her lyrics, repeatedly slapped herself in the face and hit herself on the head with her microphone.

A spokesman for Winehouse told a newspaper that the singer was just annoyed at her rusty performance after not playing for a while.

Let's hope things look up for Winehouse as she's set to perform at Somerset House in London and the V Festival and is nominated for the Mercury Prize.

They try to make me go to rehab, and I say No, No, No...
