I don't understand why store managers/owners don't get the concept of taking care of the customer. Who's spending their money in the store? But it's getting so you can't find a store where the clerks treat customers with some respect. I know what you mean about the kids standing around chatting - and there's no one telling them different.
I like small stores far better - they don't let so much bad behaviour go on.
