I had a back injury years ago and was laid low for several months. I remember that after awhile, I had to really talk strongly to myself to remind myself I was NOT getting old, and I WOULD get better, and I would NOT give up on being able to dance or play tennis again. I believe that our mental state influences our physical state quite a bit. So if I can offer a little advice - post notes on the mirror, or write in a journal or put something visible around you as you recuperate, that will remind you that better times are coming. Remind yourself this is only temporary. Tell yourself that you WILL be back on the field when it's time ... do whatever you can to strengthen your determination to get back to doing what is important to you.
